26th - Ferrari launches F2004 at Maranello
Ferrari
today launched the car it hopes will continue its championship-winning
streak in 2004 at the team’s HQ in Maranello, Italy.
Hailed by technical director Ross Brawn as the best
Ferrari so far, the F2004 bears a resemblance to last
season’s machine albeit with a shorter wheelbase and
further setback cockpit opening.
"Once again, this
car represents another significant step in performance,
and I am proud to say that this is the best Ferrari
we have produced so far,” commented Brawn at the launch.
"Our analysis of the 2003 season highlighted the areas
where we were strong and those where we weak. Certainly,
we did not react aggressively enough to the opportunities
presented by the 2003 regulation changes. For 2004 we
have worked to ensure that we will not make the same
mistake." Despite his highly optimistic words regarding
the new car, Brawn added that the team’s success in
2004 would depend largely on the strength of Bridgestone’s
tyres.
